All speculation for all we know the anime will stop after CA. Btw please no spoilers for the anime viewers.
The way the anime is currently going and depending how they do the fights this arc will last 1-2 years. That means by then the manga would probably start again .... Hopefully

I'm not talking about what's been written so far. I mean near the end of Hunter X Hunter. Obviously he wouldn't be killed off halfway through.

he doesn't die -_-, and even when/if they do kill the mc, they usually come back. (thinking yu yu hakusho)

Having a MC die can be an excellent plot device if its done right, or even conclusion. Think about Guren Lagann. I hope he doesn't follow the pattern and do what he did with yu yu hakusho. It was a little excessive lol.

He was one of two when he died. If a MC dies it can be argued he isn't one but in my personal opinion, its his importance to the story when he dies that determines whether or not he's a MC. He had a big impact after death too.

Those roles aren't synonymous. Comparable, but different. Kamina and Simon were equally important while he was alive.
