Well, everyone knew Luffy was feeling weak without him saying so. It's the way all these events are shaped, where we see Luffy separated from his crew and unable to protect them, followed by being unable to save Ace, and then a flashback to see why Luffy was becoming strong and how he actually felt he was progressing into something great. It's like having reality shatter on him, and the way it was presented was fantastic. And Sabo is probably gonna be alive, Luffy and Ace never accepted his death, that says alot.
I guess we may see a little less fun-loving and a little more "teach me new stuff" Luffy?
Dunno if we will ever see such a big change, but he definitely seems to be inclined to learning to control his haki.
