things were much different back then, war was everyday life, the village didnt even exist. they needed to be strong to live.
While it is obvious that now the younger generations are beginning to surpass the previous
i dont think its Madara whos tobi, but most people do, so i wont knock that. But we don't know Tobi's strength, and he seems VERY strong, which is something that wouldn't come form a older generation.. it would be from a newer generation.

The young generations are pretty shit when you think about it, Naruto / Sasuke / Gaara are about the only people who live up to the new generations surpassing the old

You don't hear about the shitty "average" ninja in the old generations...

I agree with this. You can probably add Neji and maybe Shikamaru to that list, but that's about it. You don't exactly hear talk of people becoming stronger than any of the past Hokages. All Naruto did to pass his dad was add wind element to the Rasengan. Minato would still romp his ass more than likely, even with the 9 tails chakra. I think Hashirama would stomp everyone personally.

Its a possibility that madara might be harder now since he has a new eye + its abilities

Yeah I mentioned that before. The Rinnegan probably made up some of the ground he lost when he fought Hashirama.

wtf, i expected a much better fight vs Pain but they ended in just 1 fuckin episode.....seriously wtf was tht, they push away rando fights to 2-3 episodes and this fight btw naruto, be itachi vs pain, probably the most epic so far in naruto ended in mere 15 pages..

well the high of the episode was Itachi work, Itachi is my fav char and he complete dominated the fight as well as sealed Pain with ease, I expected fight to be more deadly but hmm 3 v 1 is too much for pain i know but still well Itachi owned the battle so kinda happy but yet disappointed that it ended so soon. Same happened with Orichamara( pardon me for spelling) came out of sasuke body, i thought it would be a cool fight but he died in seconds lol...damm that blade of sealing is fucking awesome.

Itachi so far is best in terms of story and powers.
