I was just thinking that Ulquiorra before dying said that "if you don't kill me now this fight will never end", and then disintegrated. I wonder if he died and turned into a plus, thus going to soul society, but he wasn't killed by a zanpakuto which would be required for that.
His soul couldn't have been completely vanished either as only a Quincy is able to do that.
