Also mentioned this in my previous post here, Yu Yu Hakusho was released (1990) before anime hype got picked up in the west, that is probably why less people know about it. Also I don't think most people would want to watch an old anime when there are so many new ones to choose from.

yuyu is part of the wave that brought anime to the USA. inuyasha, dragonball series and yu yu were all on cartoon network. i see those as the series that brought anime to the west and then when naruto became a thing anime was no longer "weird" to watch.

Nice, didn't know that. Thought Cartoon Network in the US only showed American cartoons mostly.

i love GTO but damn it falls off hard after a while
its always bad kid hates teacher, teacher breaks their expectation, bad kid is now good kid and likes teacher

overall it was fine this way. gto carried the anime when the story was lacking.
only thing i wished was different is the ending. i wanted gto to be with fuyutsuki and not move to america. maybe thats different in the manga but i didnt read that

I couldnt put together a top ten. But my top three is definitely..

1: Yuyu Hakusho
2: Natshumushi
3: Cowboy Bebob

Theres way too many things that I could put in these next areas, and Im way to hyped for the next season of Natsumushi. Also, Im not really into a lot of anime that most people seem to adore, like attack on titan. And things like DBZ, Boku no, and one punch man [Bleach..] are great and I like me some dbz and one punch man I feel like these are the kinds of anime that people just think of when you think of anime. They're too mainstream. Bleach dipped for me after about 80 episodes. I dont like when anime dips too far and I hope that doesnt happen to the current popular stuff.

I hear you, for me I just want to see power ups and battles. Bleach did dip off significantly after Aizen left Soul Society. Have to disagree with you on Cowboy Bebop, I really liked the futuristic idea but the episodes were so slow and boring to me. I’ll have to check into your #2 pick
