Also if the MAL Bio for Subaru means anything.
Puck and Beatrice are both aware of Subaru's ability to some extent. (because magical creatures and what not)
so killing Subaru was like doing him a favor.

1st death when he got frozen, heard the same voice say "you're to late"
Emilia/Puck use ice magic so that also hints to it being Puck.
Subaru just managed to get into the mansion before Puck went beast mode during that death.
Then there was the Blizzard that came out of nowhere around the mansion area.

in a way both times he was killed by Puck.
