I'm not much of an anime fan... but I've just picked it up recently . I watch pretty much anything if the art isn't too distracting. I've tried to watch mecha.. not really into it.

Looking for suggestions. I'm mostly looking for something with an interesting plot with twists and turns. Just something that keeps me thinking and watching.

Finished anime:
-Kyoukai no kanata
-Code Gease
-Sword Art Online
-Psycho Pass
-Madoka
-Naruto
-Toradora
-Stein's;Gate
-Full metal alch brotherhood
-Attack on titans

Going to watch:
-Magi

Today was my first time watching an anime show and now my interest is stirring.

Wondering if anyone could offer any suggestions on what I should watch next? Preferred criteria would be a more serious show that has a strong (badass?) female protagonist that is set in an earlier time period (Or maybe something like Buffy the Vampire Slayer, where the protagonist doesn't use guns, futuristic gadgets, ect.).

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Kenichi: The Mightiest Disciple

I read the Manga on this, forgot to keep up with it and now watching the Anime, it's an interesting watch, and can be seen on Netflix with dubs/subs if you have an account.
The main characters are centered around two people, Kenichi and Mui, guy and girl and the content is mostly about martial arts and training, with some comedy and action here and there.
Hope you like it.

Also you might want to mention which anime show you watched today that could be more relevant to narrowing down our answers...but I'm just giving you the one I'm watching now.

I watched all 25 episodes of Attack on Titan yesterday.

I think that I would prefer something that resolves around action (But has a strong plot/story).

Darker Than Black
Kara no Kyoukai
Higashi no Eden
Psycho Pass
Ergo Proxy
Serial Experiments Lain (not much action in this, but holy shit, story is awesome)

Although, if you really dislike (slight) futuristic settings, maybe these aren't the best. Although, they are all pretty good.
