He doesn't suck it in, he controls black things is what I got out of it, which it's probably why when he gets black on the sword or medallion he can prevent them from being used.

He said anything which touches the ink loses its name and power along with it, seems to just be his ability to control the black on the item.

He says his power is the power of darkness, which based on the panels right after it seems to mean that he controls the color black. The picture is of all the black of people's cloths changing, presumably because he wants them too. That's why, I'm guessing, he can take away the names of things which he splatters with his (black) ink. They now have black on them, and he can control things with "darkness" on them.

what i never got about any of these Japanese scripts is why they tell their opponent what their damn skills are
