I was also under the impression that he was to be recognized as the real Hokage. However, I think that when they name the new Hokage (cough Naruto) they'll call him the 6th. "Oh, Hokage not even for a day and you get yourself killed? Yeah you don't fuckin' count." And I thought Itachi gave Naruto that power hoping that he would never have to use it. If it let Naruto get through to Sasuke, I think Itachi would want that done. Or, it could be in the context of Itachi hoping Sasuke never gets to the point where Naruto is forced to stop him or something. Dunno yet. But it doesn't seem like Sasuke is the type of ninja who will just answer to his crimes and take whatever punishment comes his way. Even for a cheesy soft-ass ending I think that's a bit much. itachi also gave sasuke powers so that if he sees madaras face he will auto amaterasu him so obv he didnt want sasuke to get corrupted by madara. and if he gave naruto powers hoping that he would never have to use them, by that he could be meaning that sasuke wouldnt fall so far into his anger bs that naruto would need to use those powers
