I would have been completely fine with it ending after the Buu arc. I'm glad it's continued, and I'm incredibly happy they've waited long enough to come up with some original and interesting direction, instead of rehashing the same old shit again. Everything about GT was just unpleasant, from the horrible transformations, Goku's fucking kill-stealing, the god awful plot and villains, really just everything about it was bad. Like I said, I'm glad you guys enjoyed it, but I think it's a big factor as to why it took so long for it to come back, GT destroyed a lot of the love people had for the franchise, obviously not for you and CM, but for most of us it did. Also, the games have all been terrible post Cell imo.
Well you can't really say it killed the franchise since DBZ was the end.
GT characters and other non cannon ones were heavily used in all the games made since then.
The Baby, Android 17 and shadow dragon sagas were awesome for more than just a few people. Frankly I much prefered a matured vegeta over a bitchy one too.
Also Vegeta needing focused blutz waves to reach SSJ4 made sense since he had no tail and to first transform you need to becoming a SSJ giant ape.
Also the SSJ4 transformation making use of the oozaro was awesome. We had not seen the giant ape form in such a long time even tho it's a huge part of what saiyans can do. Needing to control their primal side to ascend was cool and the transformation itself just looks so damn badass.
All I can say is if you can soak up the salt that the black dragon ball hunt created (for me included) and look at the rest of GT objectively, it was amazing.
