oh boy, we're going to discuss this again....there is no 6 paths... when tobi said nagato was "the 3rd of the sixth paths," if you read the japanese version it translates to "you were the third rikudo" where rikudo is the SAGE of the 6th paths... meaning nagato was the 3rd person to possess the powers of the sage of the sixth paths, the first being the actual sage.

incorrect, you're basing this off of a crude translation, anyone with a brain knows what happens when you translate DIRECTLY from japanese to english, you get a butchered translation, and it can change the perception people view things

so, when japanese people read rikudo, they're not suppose to see rikudo? the butchered translation is what made you think there were 6 paths where tobi is collecting them all..like pokemon

the word itself is there, but the context changes


to understand what is meant you have to read the sentence as a whole, because there is no difference between the japanese word for "third" and "three"

the direct translation is rikudo=six paths, where it refers to the person that discovered ninjutsu, like konan said when tobi explained he had the powers of both senju and uchiha "that's the powers of the six paths, you don't have that kind of power"...if you accept the translation that 6 paths= 6 different paths that tobi's collecting, then you'd have to assume that senju+uchiha=the total 6 paths, therefore tobi is done with his search because he already has the powers of the six paths..

when u read the early translation when it first came out, it was skewed a bit to make you think tobi was collecting 6 different paths because rikudo sennin was translated into 6 paths, when it should've been more clear by emphasizing the sage of the six paths for english readers....

the context is simply mistaken, and the ms translators are usually wrong about most of these things because they only know the language in theory they havent learned to apply it including context
