a few reasons.
1) cartoons allow good shows with younger characters. if you do live action, either you get inexperienced actors or you cast 30 year olds as 15 year old characters (star crossed anyone?)
2) cartoons allow good special effects. a live action dbz looks 10x more cheesey because of special effects.
3) they have plots you dont see in american cartoons.



the only american cartoon that has anything like genocide would probably be south park, but it's a totally different tone.
