This was such a dumb post that I won't come to this sub-forum again.
Cliche means lack of thought, or stereotypical which majority of all anime is. This was obviously the correct usage of the word, zzzz.
And to say Anime is 99% for children is like saying Disney is generally direction towards children. When in reality, majority of its fan base is of adults.
Secondly, majority of all new-age shit anime has nudity and violence that would obviously not be directed at children. Please slap yourself.
cliche does not mean lack of thought i'm sorry you are mistaken. cliche implies a lack of thought sometimes, but it's meaning is actually words or phrases (typically, but can be used more broadly) that have become commonly overused. cliches arent always a bad thing. they are often useful and can be used ironically. here is a list of cliches
http://clichesite.com/alpha_list.asp?which=lett+1you also cant just define something as stereotypical it requires a qualifier. "a stereotypical what?" "stereotypically what?" to just say anime is stereotypical doesnt mean anything because its too broad, like saying something
as a final note anime having nudity or violence does not mean it was designed for adults. Adults are accustomed to these things, where as they may mean something to a child an adult will require more.

do you really think that this poll on the escapist magazine blog is an exhaustive sample?
rather look at a season shows list. now cross out every show with pic of a loli, a school girl, a school uniform, a classrom, or a magic wand/sword/etc.

anyway i didnt say that anime is only for children. i said it was designed for children, almost all the time, and that is true. 99% might have been a bit much but i'ld guess maybe 1 in 20 shows are designed specifically for adults. adults like me who cant let go of childhood
