In order for an anime to be created.. the manga has to be popular.

Anime is slow paced, often(usually, at least somehow) different from how author meant the story to be

Manga you can just browse through at your own speed, perhaps listening to your own music and theres never boring re-caps or openings to wait

well i usually skip those recaps/openings o.o unless you watch those live...

Can read manga during class...

Same with anime, who needs sounds when you don't understand japanese?
Just read subtitles

Same reason people read books before watching a movie, I have a friend who refuses to watch any movies that are based on books before reading them even when the movie is old as fuck.

Well most of the time it's a Manga 1st so people want to read the ogrinal source. Cuz in a lot of anime's they cut good parts of manga's out.

Also u can run through the manga alot faster then u can watching it. Time is money.
