Sure it might not be cutesy anime, they take a more serious note at the genre which in my opinion is always a good way to start.

Although if you're looking for something somewhat romantic, you could try the movie Summer Wars.

I just finished attack on titan, and would say sure there is drama and about 1 oz of romance... But not SOL. but yes AoT, I agree is fantastic, but way too much blood. Plus subbed
