Rurouni Kenshin: Tsuiokuhen is only the name of the four episode prequel. I've never seen the main series myself and I don't plan on it, but Tsuiokuhen is a good watch.
Well, I don't remember what it was I saw, I just remember something about a "reverse blade sword" and some guy who doesn't like to kill people anymore.
I was pretty young then, it was probably also on Adult Swim when I saw it.

here are my suggestions they're pretty mainstream, try to watch subtitled versions

Even though its a little bit more annoying to read, the voice acting is much better than the dub counterparts.
Hunter x Hunter
Fate stay night
FMA Brotherhood
Gintama (Hillarious, but you might not get some of the references)
Stein's Gate
Neon Genesis Evangelion
Angel Beats!
If you like more comedy, slice of life types
Boku wa tomodachi
Chuunibyou demo Koi ga Shitai
Clannad
Toradora!
Kokoro Connect
The reason I prefer the dubs over subs is because I am usually doing something else while watching shows, so I'm not constantly watching. I can't stand just watching TV shows, I have to multi-task or I feel like I'm wasting time xD
But I'll look into some of those, thanks.
Also, I think the reason I didn't like Code Geass was because it's a "mecha" or something?
I didn't realize there was a genre for robot suits, but I just realized that I've never liked any shows or movies that are based on giant robots or robot suits o.O
