the characters and creatures of Claymore are so boring. some of the ability concepts were cool, but the personalities and visual designs were lame

i can't agree that mangas are better than animes because i don't like reading mangas, and you give no reason why the mangas are better so i don't buy

Manga is what the anime is based off of

pretty much, animes are abridged versions of mangas that have an episode cap

manga is only limited by however long it takes to end or however long it takes to get dropped, therefore the story is almost always richer and sometimes (like in Claymore) will be the real story instead of a 'oh shit, we ran out of episodes. Lets randomly end the whole story the wrong way so it at least has closure'.

Anime is more fan service oriented (aka. boobs + flashy stuff) while mangas are for actual stories

Very rarely does an anime surpass its manga counterpart. The only one that comes to mind is the original FMA

mangas vs animes is the same argument on books vs movies. Books are almost always better than movies because of the time restrictions movies have. If movies could be 8+ hours long then they would stand a chance but they can't.

Look at the Full Metal Alchemist series. I really enjoyed the first series a lot. Then I read the manga and was trying to figure out why they did so many things in the first anime. Then Brotherhood came out which actually followed the manga and was 10x better than the first anime.

On another note I just started watching Fairy Tail and I'm actually pretty let down by the anime right now. I really enjoyed the manga but I had the characters voices way different in my head. Plus they really screwed up when they use their magic.

unless you spend over 24 minutes reading a single manga chapter, the opposite is more accurate. manga : movies ; anime : books

manga's only claim to superiority is its concision
