Watch the 70+ episodes first, the next two are a Special and if they say Season 2.. it is just a 1 off episode... Season 3 are Episodes... just a heads up.

They did, and it is all based off of real boxers and their time (mostly American boxers of course).

I am re-watching these again, just in case I missed any... and of course I have, because I normally only watch dubbed. :P

Oh... there is an old movie (not anime) called Brutal Glory, it is based on a lightweight or featherweight boxer (american) during the great depression (if I remember correctly) that is also based off of a real boxer... you may like it, he was the first boxer to twist his punches on impact to cut flesh.l (edit: open wounds)
