my coworker's willing to try anime. she likes comedies. these are a few of the movies she enjoyed.

Waiting
Employee of the month
Deuce Bigalo male gigalo
horrible bosses
bad teacher

she's willing to try subs, but she'd prolly enjoy dubs more.

i've never heard of any of these movies since it's not really my genre. what do you guys recommend?

Start her off with an American comedy cartoon like Archer, then go into Japanese.

Not sure about the movies but some pretty good comedies imo

The 3 I would probably show someone new to anime
Angel Beats
Full Metal Panic (mostly Fumoffu)
Great Teacher Onizuka

Romcoms
Toradora
Tonari no Kaibutsu-kun
Sakurasou no Pet na Kanojo
Clannad

others
Gintama (not really beginner friendly imo)
Detective Conan (show her a movie dubbed although this is primarily a mystery but there are a lot of funny parts)
Baka to Test
Chi's Sweet Home
Nichijou
TWGOK
Beck
Daily Lives of High School Boys
Lucky Star
K-on
Eden of the East
The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya
etc prob forgetting a lot

my coworker is in her 40s. i doubt she'd like to watch an anime about kids in school is the problem. i saw many of the school romcoms you mentioned (eg: k-on, haruhi, toradora, clannad, angel beats, baka to test, full metal panic etc) and that's one of my favourite genres, but i dont think she'd go for it. angel beats is going to be too violent, she just wants to laugh.

perhaps full metal panic Fumoffu will be worth a try

i asked her about archer and she's heard of it. she's going to try that.

i checked wiki and that seems too sexual for a beginner. don't wanna scare her away with cartoon porn

just watched the first ep of gintama, and that might work. will look into hetalia.

plan right now is to show her 1-2 episodes of a few different anime to see which she responds best to. thanks for all the suggestions guys!

desert punk, the dub isn't terrible if they don't want to read.
