Yes. It's gold.

One of my most favorite anime of all time.

First episode or 2 are fillers. Then the next 20 or so are 'alright' introducing all the important main and side characters. After that the anime was changed to a worse time slot and could do a lot more than before and that is when it starts getting way better.

Unlike other shounen the serious arcs are pretty short so you don't have to worry about fights taking forever. But in the end it is mostly a comedy series and in my opinion the funniest anime I have seen.

I hate all the series that last 300+ episodes because fillers are just plain stupid. But I loved gintama. The comedy makes up for everything.

Gintama is the best.
I think i rewatched the whole series for like 3 times already.

People who usually says it sucks are the ones who only watched first episodes.

I view Gintama as a comedy show with plot and added action scenes. It's really fucking good, I watched it and currently (slowly) re-watching it.

Rewatched it more than 3 times. Give it a go and find if you like it It's a parody anime so there may be a lot of things you don't get. But overall it's just amazing
