Yes, i agree that this could help some people find anime. But the problem comes more from the users who have seen more than 50 different anime. No one wants to search through dozens of pages of a search feature looking for a decent anime in their preferences. So they make posts to get something recommended from others who either spent time going through the pages of anime lists, or found that anime by chance.

The only problem i've found with all the recommendation threads is that no one realizes there's a stickied thread for recommendations.

I always thought no one went to the recommendation thread because of whos a frequent in it.
