I watched the originally anime, but it stopped after one of the OVA's

Is this new one ahead of the original?

Would you say it's better? Which arc is it in? Is it worth watching?

Yes it has gone beyond the original
It is still airing but if you don't want to watch it all again (but I would suggest it) episode 76 is right after the OVAs for the original ended. So episode 76 for after Greed Island.
I really suggest watching the newer version from the start.

It is currently in the Chimera Ant Arc which is the longest arc in Hunter x Hunter and darker than the rest of the series.

Also I heard some of the canon stuff from the manga is cut out in the new version is this true?

They do skip a few stuff from the manga but nothing that majorly important (imo) since it was going faster paced to catch up what the first anime had already animated. It also doesn't contain fillers that the original anime had and it contains some stuff the original anime left out that was part of the manga.

I'm watching it now and I feel like it's better than the original in almost every way except...

the music isn't anywhere near as good

it's pretty dull bland and emotionless

only disappointing thing about it for me

tbh about to start this after im done with what im watching due to reviews

just watch the new one, the new art is just amazing

I like the voice actor in the newer one for Hisoka. The old one sounds kinda corny.
