I'm wondering which one is first? I thought it was bakemonogatari but a friend told me other ones are before it or something and got me confused. There are way too many lol.

You Have to watch it in order of release. Regardless of chronological order, whats being portrayed is in release order. makes much more sense.

Bakemonogatari First - Explanations galore + Sisters intro
Nisemonogatari - Sisters Arc and more stuff
Kuromonogatari - Slight Shinobu/Arararagi (oops Tehe?) Explanation + Real Hanakawa Explanation

Lets hope Kizumonogatari comes out in 2013...

Tl;dr - shaft made Kuromonogatari with the viewers who watched Bake and Nise in mind (tons of hints that prove). Watch it in release order.
