does it explain it in the game? cause i haven't played the game only been watching an LP of it so far

The purpose of the velvet room is to serve those with the potential .

It's pretty much their job .

Playing the game helps a lot.

No , the velvet room is between unconcious and the subconcious mind , meaning its the place closest to death.

In persona trinity soul , two people claimed to have had a "dream" visiting Igor

This was because they were taking that persona drug.. Which we know ultimately kills you .

And neither of them possesed the wild card . One guy had the Persona Sparticus .

So to answer your question , no .

honestly i'd say trinity soul cannot be considered canon
seeing as that age limit thing is just bs seeing as adachi could use his persona just fine

while in persona 3 all characters do end up in the room at a certain point it still ends up being due to something in relation to the one with the wild card
normally nobody else can even see the entrance to the velvet room

It may not be canon , but it is more information about personas that we dont know .

The purpose Velvet Room is to manage Persona. The room is invisible to all except those with high spiritual sensitivity. In Persona 3, Persona 3: FES, and Persona 4, the room is inaccessible to those who are not chosen.

In earlier games igor introduced himself as a puppet of Philemon.

It all relates to mythology , im trying not to spoil it lol .

well in the earlier games i'm pretty sure all characters had access to multiple persona so could be said they were all wild cards (never played too far into 1 or 2)
and only those with the wild card need to manage persona anyway
and if you've played the answer in P3FES this again makes more sense that wild cards normally only get access

The ability has always been around . But never applied .

For example how did Souji/Yu get into the velvet room before he got his wild card ability ?

He didnt have the wild card ability until he reached Inaba .

He was automatically welcomed to the velvet room which inevitably lead him to the wild card .
