Well, I don't generally boast about watching anime either since I don't want to be associated with those Narutards (no offence if you like Naruto).
But I'd never lie someone in the face if they asked me about it or make fun of people who watch it behind their backs. That makes you look like a insecure douchebag.

I do wear a lot of "nerdy" t-shirts, even though I'm seen as somewhat of a jock, so that fellow nerds can be more open with me and don't think that I'm looking down on them or anything.
Casuals wouldn't get what the weird phrases printed on the t-shirt mean anyway so it's not like it matters.

I'd probably prefer if people knew about it, so that they could accept me for who I am, but I haven't had the chance to tell anybody yet since I don't have any really good friends ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
