So I barely started this series and was wondering what would happen if Light wrote Ryuk's name in the deathnote?
Would it work or not?

The deathnote is for killing humans so probably not

Ryuk is already dead, so it wouldn't have any effect.

theres only 1 way a shinigami can die and thats explained in the series keep reading/watching

AFAIK it only works on humans. If he were to write the name of an animal there, it wouldn't work. (not that that was specified, but it's a good example assuming true)
