What if an incurable and unfathomably deadly/monstrous outbreak did emerge in your community. And, that you were in a position to instruct a powerful force, e.g., an army, to immediately respond to the threat to our species. Would you choose to annihilate an entire town, possibly country, so as to protect those who have yet to be infected? It's a giant ass trolley problem which makes me feel powerless. As all of the lives that we will end are like you and like me. Some are children, the elderly, the people in hospitals, the people working in blue collar jobs so as to help their families, new families, and families taking care of their elders, just to name a few.

What stirs within you when you place yourself in the position where you have to make a difficult and quick choice. A choice where so many lives will end, so as to protect our species from an ensuing deadly incurable outbreak.

Wouldn't work for TLOU universe. It spread through contaminated flour and infected huge populations all over the world. Although it is interesting how peoples answer to the trolley problem changes based on nuance.

I also think it's interesting how when people answer these kind of philosophical questions they think of the perfect version of themselves with no account for if they actually could push the button so to speak.
