‘ Tells the story of Michael Peterson, a crime novelist accused of killing his wife Kathleen after she is found dead at the bottom of a staircase in their home, and the 16-year judicial battle that followed. ‘
HBO just released their show, a dramatization based off the Michael Peterson case and the Netflix documentary with the same title, The Staircase. It’s easily one of my most favorite documentaries of all time so I’m excited to see this show play out. The case is an absolute shit show and full of twists and ‘wtf’ moments, but the documentary also leaves out a few things that I hope is in the show. Really points horribly dark shadows on the police, lawyers, and judicial system with all the dirty fucking shit they pulled and evidence they tampered with.
If you haven’t seen the documentary it’s an absolute MUST WATCH. And should be watched before the HBO show I think so you know all the details and compare and contrast.
If you want to post spoilers, please make a post just like this(as I am posting a spoiler):
*** Spoilers below ***
I’m 1.25 episodes in, and it seems like they are going to touch on the ‘Owl theory’ which I truly believe is what killed Kathleen Peterson. If you’ve seen the documentary, they don’t talk about it at all. But there is some truly damning evidence that this could have happened and caused her death. Just google the owl theory. I’m also hoping they talk about some of the issues with his children, mostly his one son, and his dark past including the bombs they found in his dorm room. As I think that’s a small chance he killed her.
