I’m surprised nobody’s posted this already. Maybe it’s just me, but I thought the trailer was pretty fucking dope. It did a good job of showcasing the film, while also not really revealing too much, which is rare these days. A24 has been killing it lately, so I actually have some decently high expectations for this. I’m going to watch it tonight.

Holy shit, what a trip of a movie.

I was half expecting an epic, action packed adventure story. That’s not the movie they were making though, & that’s fine. ‘The Green Knight’ is a bonafide psychedelic art house film. I felt like I was on shrooms watching parts of this movie. The cinematography was pretty great, awesome score, great acting. The pacing however was at times excruciatingly slow. Then there are some parts of the film where unless you’re very familiar with the source material (story) you’re going to have no idea what the fuck is going on or why. I won’t spoil it, but there’s one scene that warrants & giant ‘WTF / WHY’ reaction.

An overall good but very different movie, & not at all what I was expecting

I've had my eye on this movie for a while now and it sounds like it's exactly what I had hoped it would be. The second trailer actually had me worried that it was going to be a bit of a generic medieval adventure film.

ty thanks review ty

Judging from the title of the movie I was thinking this is based on Warhammer? The action figure game that is based on rolling dice and beating your opponents team. Or am I wrong? I just remember that 1 action figure Green Knight you can only play that alone as it was massively op.

Damn... I mean, this all sounded good until the last two things you said. Forcing the audience to be familiar with the source material and pacing that slow makes this seem rough. It looks fucking great, but overly artsy movies that are more obsessed with themselves than telling a story get old really fucking quick.

Assuming the audience is familiar with the source material just limits the target audience of the movie. And since this movie only had a budget of like $15M, it doesn't have to appeal to all audiences.

Honestly, for what this movie cost to make I felt it was incredibly well done. Probably one of the best I've seen during the pandemic times, but I understand that it's not a movie that most would enjoy.
