Been trying to find AI movies or TV series that came out before Westworld.

Bicentennial Man ... family show of course with Robin Williams and Sam Neil ... actually was good to re watch where he starts off as a Robot and eventually re-created himself to be able to die like a human. Yeah a bit of a family show, but the idea was good... 1999 year of release.

Logan's Run, remember watching the TV series when I was younger, a remake of the movie came out but for some reason Google spits out the old stuff or the Movie Logan (Wolverine). I think the remake of Logan's Run was more cloning and fake implanted memories.

There is a movie where guy is setup to take the fall for some AI war, he did a paper on time travel, his father died, best friend died, he was presumed dead but woke up in a Deep freeze, gets out and gets help from a guy searching around for parts from abandoned war zones and has a kid in the car with him ... etc. Anyway, there was a segment in there about an AI project that basically took the persona of the person that was teaching her and became a Merc for hire (got a bit lost, not sure if the AI killed the person she impersonated, or the person actually became psychotic and killed the AI)

Oh, there is I Robot of course

Maybe the old Rutger Hauer movie ... he is an AI hunter in the future because AI's are becoming aware and are trying to kill their creators... think this was an 80's or 90's movie.

Anyone know some of the names of those I described or other movies / TV shows etc???

Thanks in advance.

EDIT: oh I forgot one of my old favorites... Short Circuit... Number 5 is Alive.

Chappie seen... was interesting
Ex Machina seen twice I think

So left with;

The Matrix

Don't recall any of these being A I. Definitely Sci Fi.

The Matrix is the remaining human population hooked up to an artificial world created in their minds.

Don't really recall Space Odyssey, but thought that was more Alien encounters etc.

Thanks for some ideas though. Artificial world... similar to Westworld concept of re-enacting the Wild West.

"Humans" is a tv show about AI. I haven't watched the US version, but the EU version was quite nice.

You could classify the Matric as AI, as the basis is of AI machines taking over the world and how they manage it to turn mankind into a power source. It's more-so about the humans overcoming AI, versus a focus on the AI themselves though, so even though it's always listed when talking about AI, it's not one I would personally include.

True, guess then Terminator series would fall into that category as well.

I guess I would call AI type programs where you see them evolve into their own conscience and determine things for themselves and overwriting their programming... Ahh, forgot, something like Human I believe was the TV series, or is it Almost Human.

100%. There are tons you could include using the metric that allows Matrix/Terminator, but when I think AI films, that's the last thing I'm thinking about lol. I want to see their rise, the creative process that leads to unexpected disaster, or an AI manipulating things in the background to achieve some fucked up ends. There are plenty of AI films that suck too, Eagle Eye is always one that comes to mind for me lol.
