Never really watched ANY marvel movies. But feel now is the time to start

Don't want to watch every single one of them, just the best / most important ones

Can someone who has a good understanding of a kind of order for me to watch them in? Just kinda like the best 10 or 15?

Iron Man
Avengers
Winter Soldier
Civil War
Infinity War
End Game

That's all you really need to watch.

In all seriousness, if you haven't got in on them by now, you're better off skipping them entirely. Most of them fall squarely in the "meh" category, with an incredibly small handful of them being actually good, not great, films. There's also no way to avoid watching A LOT of these meh ones, unless you don't care about not knowing half the characters that are in the two-part finale for this generation of Marvel films. That being said, I'll go ahead and give it a shot. I also say fuck the "chronological order". Movies should be watched in the order they were released, not in the correct timeline that gives massive spoilers to other films.

Iron Man (The first and one of the few good Marvel films)
Captain America
Thor
Avengers
Captain America Winter Soldier
Thor Dark World (terrrrrible movie)
Guardians of the Galaxy
Age of Ultron
Ant-Man
Avengers : Civil War
Doctor Strange
Spider Man Homecoming
Thor Ragnorak (I don't recall this one being important to the story, but it was actually a fairly enjoyable movie)
Black Panther
Avengers Infinity War (Infinity part 1)
Captain Marvel
Avengers End Game (Infinity part 2)

Movies I cut

The Incredible Hulk
Iron Man 2 & 3
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2
**Ant-Man and the Wasp
Spider-Man Far From Home

Like I said, either you have to watch alllllll of the listed ones, and a lot of them are painful, or you'll be missing a ton when it comes to Infinity War, which is supposedly the climax for this generation of Marvel films. They're still making plenty more, but this is the *end* of the original cast apparently.

e: You should use Ant-Man and the Wasp. I forgot that one ties directly into End Game. Such a pain in the ass

If you just want to watch the ones that don't suck and you don't give two shits about what's going on

Iron Man
Guardians of the Galaxy
Ant-Man (meh, but higher up meh)
Avengers (corny and poorly written, but fun enough when it was the first time around)
Spider-Man Homecoming (I have a soft spot for spidey)
Thor Ragnorak (As I said before, it's one of the better ones)
Infinity War
End Game (Neither of these last two are good, but they are the *epic climax*, aka, lots of CGI, bad acting and a horrible story)

You want 15 films, there are 23. I'll list the 8 I'd recommend cutting rather than the ones I'd recommend watching, cuz I'd honestly rather not recommend watching more than basically iron man 1 and Thor Ragnarok.

Look up the full list of mcu films on Wikipedia

Cut these 8

Hulk (2008) -> not actually an mcu movie, Marvel said it was after Iron Man was so successful and they decided to make the mcu

Iron Man 2(2010) -> only important thing is the introduction of war machine and black widow, but both get very little actual development in the movie so it is inconsequential

Iron Man 3(2013) -> bad movie with inconsequential plot, basically just the set up for age of Ultron

Thor: Dark World(2013) -> bad movie, not sure if has any importance really

Age of Ultron(2015) -> bad movie, only notable thing it does is introduce Scarlet Witch + Vision, but doesn't really give important development of the characters beyond adding them to the team. Almost worth watching because it has the best scene in the entire mcu(hawkeye scene), but it's like 5 seconds of the movie so meh.

Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2(2017) -> not important at all beyond developing a relationship that is already pretty on pace in vol 1 anyways.

Black Panther(2018) -> it's probably important to watch, but honestly it is fucking awful... And really you get enough information about Wakanda in other movies so maybe it isn't even important to see.

Antman and the Wasp(2018) -> just look up the end credits scene when you get here on the timeline, literally the only part of the movie that matters.

You can also cut far from home if you want, it's a pretty stupid story, like logically it makes no sense. But it does the main villian in a cool way, it's fairly fun for the most part, and Marvel is pretty adamant that it is the "true end" to the Infinity saga, so probably watch it?

Edit: adding vision to Ultron.

Edit 2: you could also probably cut Thor Ragnarok, it's mostly not important to the story.. But as one of the few actually good mcu films, I'd recommend watching it.

Edit 3: holy fuck there are actually 23 mcu movies, I'm just realizing how fucking insane that is.

Skip em.....

I had never seen any of them, outside of Ironman 1 and the firs Avengers, and just pieces of some others here and there. And last year I attempted to watch every single one, In order. Just to see if the hype was real, and maybe I was wrong about them

I made it like 3/5 of the way through and just couldnt do it anymore. I was miserable, they are not good. Dont be a sheep

aren't X-men movies also under the umbrella of Marvel movies? Or do I misunderstand the original question here?

basically u have two paths, "follow the stones" and a full watch.

if your only goal is to understand end game and infinity wars cut out Iron man franchise, cut out hulk, only guardians 1, etc.

So this is the chronological order to watch the movies. Not the order in which they were released, but in chronological order of the events that happen in the Marvel Universe

1) Captain America The First Avenger
2) Captain Marvel
3) Ironman
4) Ironman 2
5) The Incredible Hulk
6) Thor
7) The Avengers
8) Ironman 3
9) Thor 2
10) Captain America 2 The Winter Soldier
11) Guardians of the Galaxy
12) Guardians of the Galaxy 2
13) Avengers 2 Age of Ultron
14) Ant-man
15) Captain America 3 Civil War
16) Black Panther
17) Spider-Man
18) Doctor Strange
19) Thor 3
20) Ant-man 2
21) Avengers 3 Infinity War
22) Avengers 4 End Game
23) Spider-Man 2

The main ones I’d watch, not necessarily because they’re the best, but to get a good idea of the total story, I’d go with:

1) Captain America 1
2) Captain Marvel
3) Ironman
4) Thor
5) Avengers 1
6) Captain America 2 Winter Soldier
7) Guardians of the Galaxy
8) Avengers 2 Age of Ultron
9) Captain America 3 Civil War
10) Black Panther
11) Doctor Strange
12) Thor 3
13) Avengers 3 Infinity War
14) Avengers 4 End Game

Basically all the origins, team ups + Thor 3 because it’s pretty good/funny
