At first, I was like aw hell no. Black and White, 1950s, etc.. But the beginning really got me hooked. I was like aw, I'm already 40 minutes in why stop now?

Ending surprised the crap out of me! I had no idea Eve was actually lying and being manipulative. It totally changed my view of Margo at the end too, I felt like she was being so rude, but now I can kinda understand where she was coming from.

The amount of metaphors and puns that were used was great lol.

And Addison DeWitt slapping Eve in the hotel room. That was crazy, it seemed like back then it was perfectly normal? Can't imagine that happening now.

Has anyone else seen it, what are your thoughts?

I see. Was it just in movies, or relationships back then really entailed that as a common thing? The wife just "accepted it"?

I absolutely love this movie. It's one of my all time favourites, and imo one of the all time greatest flicks ever made... everyone should check it out at some point of their lives.

It was not completely unacceptable from a social point of view. It was indeed relatively common to be shown in movies back in the day, usually in impactful scenes. I will never forget the slap Rita Hayworth received from Glenn Ford in Gilda (1946), another oldie that is very much worth watching (albeit not the masterpiece All About Eve is).

seems I enjoyed it, I gave it a 7/10. I had to check my watchlist because I couldn't remember if I watched it before or not Lol

Cool. Thanks all, yeah this was my first "old movie" I've ever seen. Besides Wizard of Oz.

I do want to re-watch again now, since I know Eve a bit better.

Nice. Yeah, I'd give it a score around there too. What really got me hooked was the beginning when Eve told her story. I was so close of just turning it off before that, cause that guy narrating the banguet scene made me rage hard . I was like wtf

Happy I didn't though =]

Yeah, it's a movie worth rewatching. Anne Baxter nailed Eve's character... although so did Bette Davis, who is probably my favourite actress of all time. Her performance in What Ever Happened to Baby Jane is absolutely top notch.

This movie has several moments to it - unfortunately it has way too many moments - it goes on forever!
Fortunately it's interesting and enjoyable. But I think the length is Alistair MacLean's style. I've read some
of his other books and for novels of action they're kind of slow paced. But I admire that in a way.
It's almost Stanley Kubrick-ish in that he lets the story develop.
