You are sent on a time travel mission. You will go to December 1975 carrying one movie of your choice. That movie will be released in theaters on Jan 1, 1976. Your goal is to choose the movie that will net the biggest sales during the year 1976.
Rule: You may not choose a movie that belongs to a franchise which had one of its parts released in or around 1976. This means you can't choose a sequel/prequel designed to exploit particular interest in another movie that happened to be popular at the time.
You are choosing a movie just based on what you think blow audiences away in 1976. Total sales will be measured worldwide, not restricted to US (but remember that overseas audiences did not represent nearly as significant a market then as they do now). Also consider the social climate and censorship standards of mainstream Hollywood back then (the amount of sex and violence we are accustomed to now might not sit well with people then)
So, what movie would you go with that would be an absolute viral hit in that time? The few ideas that pop in my mind are: Jurassic Park, 300, Avatar, Forrest Gump
