So there seems to be a lot of terrible movies releasing lately/the last few years that are complete trash but have huge names attached.
I was wondering if actors see the potential for a good movie in the script or if tbey just don't give a shit anymore as long as they get paid. Obviously none of us really know but I was wondering if anyone had an opinion on the subject.
I mean a great topical example is the new mummy movie. Tom Cruise is pretty fucking good at only picking up projects that make him look good but that movie was a fucking disaster.
Could it be studio fuckery/director apathy that turn good scripts bad? Or have basically all Hollywood actors lost all sense of pride. I don't know. I would like to think that there are still people who care about the art on the production side...
I'm leaning heavily to that side.
But also, as a collective audience, our standards have dropped significantly. Or at least, so it seems.
Edit: anyway, stuff like Heat or The Usual Suspects seems like such a long time ago
