Bring a test audience in to see a soon-to-be-released movie. Hook up the chairs in the room with electrical sensors that would detect their physical reactions to the movie (like the sensors on a lie detector test). This way, the movie makers could analyze the results and see exactly which part of the movie elicited what kind of reaction. It might work best for horror movies, they could have a metric for which parts made people tense or flinch.

Any viability to this?

they do this by videoing the test screenings and saving a ton of money by not making 100 sensor chairs

This, modern horror movies are shit anyway. Everyone knows how to get a physical reaction out of people, you don't have to rig hundrets of studies nor be a good direcort. Just let a retarded thing jump in your face, turn the music up and there you go.
You got a physical reaction out of a human body just because our biological heritage wants to protect us by putting us in an alarm state. We should establish a new genre called Jump Scare galore, it needs to be differentiated by real horror movies.

Jump scares ruin the Horror genre.
I have a hard time finding any enjoyable horror movies.

LIFE wasn't too bad. Only 1 or 2 jump scares in the whole movie.
