there are other GRRM books they could be doing: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Works_based_on_A_Song_of_Ice_and_Fire#Other_novellas

makes sense since they are available and HBO won't have to pay the established, expensive actors to fill the roles

I'll keep my expectations to a minimum, but HBO is fucking solid. Almost everything they do is better than any other network, even if a money grab situation, they'll probably be worth watching.
