Now that Rogue One is out, how does it fit into the order that new people should watch the franchise for the first time?

If you were of the mind that people should watch them in chronological order, would you now slot Rogue One right in between episodes 3 and 4?

Do you think people just go with the release order, saving Rogue One for last?

If you were a fan of the Machete Order, where does R1 plug in now? 4-5-2-3-R1-6?

Honestly, I definitely think that R1 should be watched after 3 so you Jimmy Smits is recognizable.

If you want Jimmy Smits to be recognizable, just watch NYPD Blue. That was like the biggest show for 10 years, man.

...?

I mean recognizing his character from Ep2/3 so that you can understand his lines in R1

Just watch them in the exact order they came out.....

Episode 4, 5, 6, 1, 2, 3, 7, Rouge One.

Not sure why anyone cares though. If you haven't seen SW movies already, you're probably not going to enjoy them. They're not particularly well done movies, the acting is atrocious in all of them, and the only one that's actually a GOOD movie is Empire Strikes Back.

You need to take in account all the books and comics, what about the animated series and the holiday special?

Did people actually enjoy the animated series? I might have just been too old for it, I knew a couple of kids in the 8-13 range that enjoyed it, but I think everyone I knew who was older that started watching, thought it was too kiddy.

Books are always a good call, but that's not exactly a good way to go about getting someone brand new to something hooked lol. Have them watch the originals, if they love them, set them loose on the books. Unfortunately, all of the non-cannon shit seemed to be wayyyyyyyy better than anything official. Anything bounty hunter or Mandalorian War was awesome too.

They showed the animated series on television, skipped through it a couple of times but didn't like it.

But I have to mention that I'am not the biggest fan of the Star Wars franchise. I like 4-6 and rewatch them every few years, but that's it. I don't have a shelf full of "man child-toys", nor do I read fanfiction. The huge merchandise industry just annoyes me.

As for the "official but not official fanboyism order you have to watch these movies" list, I don't give a damn. Watch 4-6, if you enjoy them check out the other movies. If you don't, get on with your life.

I agree with you on all points.
