This is a sequel to the book series and the following year a tv series is set to be released in the same continuity, potentially filling in the movies back story, using the The Dark Tower IV: Wizard and Glass novel.

Fuckkkkk

Well, I knew I'd be disappointed by the trailer regardless of what they managed to put together. I'll just need to forget the books and try to enjoy this as it's own thing.

Anyone know the rating on this? Looks PG-13, which I can't say I'm too thrilled about. This series was dark and brutal as fuck, it'd be insulting to try and kiddy up it's content that much.

I'm still going to watch it and I hope it's good, but I'm trying to keep my hopes as low as humanly possible to keep myself from being disappointed too much.

I'm a little vested in this shit, my son is even named after Idris Elba's character lol.

i'm not sure man however *Stephen King (who usually hates film/adaptations of his work) has tweeted about this several times and thinks it's excellent, there's hope?

Books going into movies always need to be adapted so hopefully it was creative enough not to take away the general feel of the book. If Stephen King is happy then I'd say it's the best the world can hope for

Also keep in mind that this is a sequel to the books, not an adaptation of the books.

Which is good I guess. Maybe we'll get some fucking closure. Fucking typical bullshit Stephen King ending.
