Picked up Archer recently. Halfway through S4, but there's one thing I don't understand: Is Lana actually black?
*The way her skin is drawn, it is not any darker than the various "non-black characters". The color of her skin is noticeably different from the characters who are obviously black.
*Despite the fact that the show makes its living on offensive jokes about every race, gender, sexuality, disability etc, there hasn't actual plot content or humor directed at the "blackness" of the character who is supposedly the token black.
*She doesn't act stereotypically black at all. We've never seen her family.
Is her alleged blackness nothing more than an inside joke the show occasionally throws mild nods to? Maybe its just because her voice actress is black? I feel like it might be setting up a later plot where the rest of the characters learn that she is not actually black as they have been told. Every time the show makes a reference to her being black, I have this feeling that there's a joke I wasn't let in on.
