I just didn't like the way it ended, could've used 1-2 more seasons .

i didnt finish it yet
probably lost funding so had to wrap it up fast

No. He wrote the story as 3 seasons and planned on ending it exactly the way he did when he was pitching season 3, halfway through season 2, to the boss of showtime. The boss wanted more, but he was adamant about how he wanted the story to go.

really that's how he wanted it to end, it felt like it wrapped so abruptly

I started watching it in the past, but never really got into it. I saw that it was on Netflix, so I might have to give it a try.

I think that's the version the producer and the author agreed on. Right after the end of season 1, the author was talking about a lot more characters and 4-5 seasons, especially with Doctor Jekyll's part.
