probably if this show would air today, polished up a bit it won't lift off because of the different pace shows had in that time. People are relatively overstimulated in other shows and media and this show would not rock their senses enough and would make a general perception of the show as somewhat dull.

It's my personal observation, of course i could be wrong, but i think it's more likely that the masses are overstimulated with actionpacked tv time vs your claim of short attention span.

Being overstimulated is a direct result of having a lack of attention span. Look at how stupid pop music has become, movies are full of pop action and dialogue, Commercials, cgi, Twitter, Facebook, all meant to distract you, even Steve Jobs didn't let his own kids have Ipads because they make you stupid. I went to a packed restaurant last week, every single patron in there had their nose completely buried in their phone, totally obsessed with their social media presence. If I made this reply more than 3 lines, most would be like tl/dr. Attention span is not a thing your born with, keeping people over stimulated is a rather effective way to keep you from developing it. Do they (whomever they are)want to prevent you from ever really thinking about anything? The answer is pretty evident.

In a way, the TZ format sort of caters to that lower attention span. If they remade the show, keeping the essential stories, just modernizing things a little, it could be successful.

The fact that all the plot is a rewrite wouldn't hurt the show because, as you said, kids these aren't going to watch the original anyway.
