Okay before I get to the meat of this it is important to note that I only have one UHD blu ray, xmen days of future past. Some blurays will be better than others. My TV was selected for low input lag, as I play a lot of console FPS. What tv you have will make the biggest difference. I have the Samsung JU7500 curved 65 inch. If you PC game and just want a tv for movies you should go with an OLED tv.


The biggest improvement I have seen so far is when I got my 4k tv. It upscales 1080p to 4k and normal blurays look amazing on it, there really isnt much room for improvement beyond it that the human eye can discern. That being said, there is a barely noticeable improvement on the native 4k bluray as far as I can tell. The picture is flawless, the colors pop more, except for when the movie itself isnt filmed flawlessly. Overall the picture is clearly better than watching a movie in a brand new theater, even on the IMAX screens. Considering after tax and warranty the player set me back $500 I'd suggest holding off on the player unless you have the money and watch a lot of movies. there also isnt a big selection of 4k blurays yet. The TV on the other hand I absolutely love and have no regrets with buying it, and it set me back $2800 after a 5 year warranty.

dont remember last time i bought a dvd... or downloaded 1080p movie even tho i have both tv and pc supporting it . 4k maybe a good investment if you watch shit like transformers and avengers other then that waste of money imo Would rather watch a film with good plot and acting rather then bunch of speciall effects

Imo 4k looks fucking awesome and I wish I had a set up.

good brand too

Still not worth it to invest into 4k I'll wait and save myself a lot of cash in the long run,

4k barely costs more....it's pretty standard now.

Waiting for 4K movies to come down in price, that's probably worth it. Buying a select 4k movies would be worth it.


I'm really thinking on obtaining an oled for my next tv, the lg ones are getting to be a good price.
