looks like it's not released until march?

after i read this, the film seems sketchy:

There was no script. All of the scenes were improvised.

this got some lols:

During filming, Christian Bale thought Teresa Palmer was a stripper. It was not until about a week after working with her, he suddenly saw a billboard with her face on it and realized that she is an actress.

yea me either. but reading the IMDB trivia (in which i found both quotes u posted before) it looks like the acting in this is going to be really good or really bad because of how genuine it is.

"During filming Terrence Malick would use a technique he called "torpedoing" where he would unexpectedly send people into the scene to get a reaction from the actors who were performing."

LOL @ the reviews. seems like a 2 hour perfume commercial with no perfume.
i still might check it out if i get really drunk. seems like a great movie for hippies.

This...is not a movie. It's a narrated commercial for nothing, or maybe for the cameras they used for filming? The shots are cool, I'll give it that, one point for the cinematography. Nothing happens in this commercial, there's no story arc, no plot, no character development. You will not experience any emotions during this film, unless you are moved by perfume ads in magazines. You will not have any thoughts about this thing either, besides 'why did I finish that?' , if you can survive to the end. Its a tough watch. Lots of pretty girls in it, so if that means anything to you, then I might recommend this.

I don't think they will release this movie in theaters, it won't be worth that type of distribution, because the movie looks expensive and the cast is top notch. I am not a film critic by any means, but I know this is bad. Not funny bad, just painstakingly boring and pointless bad.

Avoid

Title: Someone put a bullet through my head now please
Is what I was thinking the entire time watching this movie.
I'm 40, male, a huge movie buff all my life and have been using IMDb for a very long time.
Literally just signed up now after all these years so I could warn people what an awful movie this is.
Terrence Malick was clearly trying to make an artful movie instead of a good one.
Not sure how this movie has the 6.7 rating it currently has.
If this review saves even 1 person from wasting the 2 hours I did it will have served its purpose.
For all the others don't say I didn't warn ya.

Beautiful shots, lots of them. 2 hours of perfume ads, with an unhappy protagonist, Christian Bale. He is apparently a successful, but definitely miserable, comedy script writer; unintended irony I guess. He doesn't do anything, other than feature in most shots, often bare foot, speaking monotone about the difficulties of 'being', occasionally swimming in his clothes in swimming pools and the sea, often accompanied by women, one more beautiful than the other. Sometimes, he chases the women round the room having pillow fights. The women, most of them, wearing flimsy designer attire, dance and wave their arms about for no apparent reason. The most exciting bit was the 5 sec. shot of Christian Bale riding a skateboard. The film made me realize my life is not that bad after all.

Don't watch this unless you've seen Malicks other stuff.

Malick makes high art films with mainstream actors but this is probably not a typical movie and chances are you'll hate it. Get into Malick chronologically to get used to his style instead.
