What do you prefer Movies or TV Shows
please vote

Me personally, I prefer TV Shows. Movies these days kind of suck, you get one really good Movie once in a blue moon.
Usually the only Movies I enjoy watching are comedies. I just think it's too short of a time to get a good story in.
It's possible but hard, they cut out way too much stuff from the original story and it doesn't give us enough to get an
actual understanding of a character, you usually only see one or two sides of a character and you don't get enough
of a connection with a character.
TV Shows however, you get to see the development of a characters, how they change through out the show and how
they are affected by the story. It also gives the writers a better chance to explain a story and you get a lot more
details of what is happening in a story. I mean they still cut out things in TV Shows as well, but not nearly as they
do in a Movie.
That is the reason about 95% of the time the book is better. But I personally like to watch stuff rather then read.

Anyways give me your thoughts.

Movies

The TV format have potential if writers drop the multiple season format and start doing 10-20 hour shows. If they do the medium will have a chance to catch up to film in 30 years or something.
The most popular shows today are straight up awful and are a complete waste of time.

TV shows

Too much of the movie industry's resources these days are being wasted making the "action blockbuster cgi baysplosions" genre. When half of your content is bad by design, the amount room left to make a few good things is severely limited. TV shows avoid that problem because they are not made for the big screen and have a smaller budget per second of air time. It gives good ideas more chances to play a role in the content.

Games of Thrones to me is the perfect example of this. It is as much of an 'action-blockbuster-cgi-baysplosion' as any TV studio could possibly put out, yet there is still a wide gap between it and a movie. GRRM spent years refusing millions of dollars to make ASOIAF into movies because no matter how many scripts people presented to him, it was literally impossible to still keep an acceptable level of character depth and plot complexity into the story using that format. It had to be a TV series if it was going to be any good at all.

Movies: Insta gratification for that story.

TV shows: from what you described is actually similar to "SoaPs", and when it comes to that example, I have
to admit, I like certain TV series... NCIS LA / Bones / Castle and some of the others still going onto this day.
Note: I am from NZ, we don't get upto date old programs that are still running in the US, so I have to watch
on sites like Plugy to keep up. I have many genres... GoT is great and still w8ing... :P so you can see it depends
on the actual person... I watch like Heroes Reborn because I have re-watched Heroes, I watch just about everything.

depends, I enjoy all forms of media for the various ways they are able to present stories and imagery that are unique to each of them as well as overlap in other areas

short series and films can convey broader topics and subjects and stories in a relatively easy fashion while longer shows provide opportunity for explaining, conveying more micro level information as well as lengthier and more subtle character progression that is best left out of film for brevity's sake

I would say I prefer both rather than one
