I haven't seen either of these movies. I am considering watching one. I am an adult male nerd. I want to know which one you think is a better film, objectively speaking.

Frozen was horrible. - Bad music, bad story, bad characters. Everyone in the movie is unlikable and it's just really bad.. I haven't been able to figure out the appeal. Watched it three or four times with my niece and just nothing lol.

Mulan - Enjoyable, decent music, decent story, characters are alright. It's a solid 6.5-7.5/10

I love animated movies and I just couldn't stand Frozen, so it's not a hating those kind of movies thing. There's so many superior animated movies out there if that's what you're in the mood for. I've posted some below for you. Japanese Animated films, R-Rated Anime movies and then some of my favorite American/children animated movies.

Miyazaki Movies -

Spirited Away
Howl's Moving Castle
Nausicca and the Valley of Wind
Princes Mononoke

Animated - Adult

Ninja Scroll
Akira

American Animated -

Monsters Inc - My personal favorite children's film
Toy Story 1 or 2
How to Train your Dragon
Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs
Shrek
The Nightmare Before Christmas

Why are you hating on one of the most successful Disney movies? It's actually rated pretty well too. I think you're just hating on its popularity.

While frozen is certainly not my favorite, I would have to disagree with most of what you said. The characters are likable. Anna is a dipiction of a large majority of modern girls, stupid and naive.

The music is very catchy and the movies video animation graphics are top notch.

My biggest grip with the movie is the lack of a major, evil villain. Elsa kind of plays as the villain, and I don't think that worked well for a story.

frozen certainly isn't in my top 10, but it's not garbage.

This is kinda what I was thinking about when I made the poll.

Has the momentum of the wave of success carried Frozen to a point where it is overhyped? Or does the obscene popularity bring on undeserved hate, resulting in it being underhyped? Or can both the previous things be true at the same time, causing the film to be simultaneously overhyped and underhyped?

While reading about it, I found it somewhat curious and perhaps enlightening to think about how to sift through this cloud and find an objective evaluation of the film.

People tend to hate things that are popular only because they are popular when the see it or hear it everywhere.

Can it be annoying? Yes, sometimes, but popularity does not raise or lower the quality of the initial product.

I love Disney. I also have worked at toys r us (second job for funsies) for ten years, so I have good experience talking with parents and seeing what kids like and dislike. Many parents loved froze. And the kids were obsessed with it. After a while, adults were sick of it because the music was everywhere.

The movie isn't the best, but it's far from garbage.

Planes, now that's garbage. I also hate the entire cars series/universe, but I understand that people generally enjoyed the first one.

I recently saw inside out when it was in theaters. It was excellent, and really creative.
