I am looking for new TV shows to watch and get into. I have a pretty good collection so far but am always looking to expand it. Here is a list of what i have on my hard drive/types of shows i like.

are you afraid of the dark, astonishing Xmen, Banshee, Big Brother, Breaking bad, Clerks the animated series, Dinosaurs, Dragonball Z, eastbound and down, entourage, family guy, freeks and geeks, game of thrones, how i met your mother, impractical jokers, its always sunny in philadelphia, oz, scrubs, shameless, sons of anarchy, the bridge, the cleveland show, the shield, the sopranos, the strain, the walking dead, the wire, trailer park boys, true detectives, weeds, workaholics, Xmen, Xmen evolution.

Any and all suggestions will be greatly appreciated

The twilight zone and the outer limits are both amazing if you liked the short story idea of are you afraid of the dark. I'd watch the remake as they are more accessible, but both the originals and remakes are awesome.

Also:
Doctor who (2005-present series)
X-Files
Torchwood(watch doctor who first)

sherlock - the british tv version starring benedict cumberbatch best adaptation of sherlock holmes yet

house - im not really into medical shows, but scrubs is actually my fav show of all time due to a perfect combination of comedy and life lessons, house i found to be enjoyable since it's very episodic and it's just house being a bad ass

best western cartoon is avatar: last airbender - a show obviously targeted at kids, but i found it to be extremely enjoyable even as an adult

i used to watch dragon ball as a kid, but when i was 23 i watched fullmetal alchemist: brotherhood for the first time and i thought it was a superior anime, didn't have as many episodes, but had great action just like dragon ball z did, but also had some emotional depth and mature themes

The last airbender is a pretty awesome show honestly even with it being a kids show.

How I met your mother seriously god awful show that's about as funny as fart jokes.

If you haven't seen it an you have Netflix watch the Spartacus series. Even if you find the plot boring the brutal fights an sex will make you enjoy it.

According to your theory:

How I Met Your Mother = bad because of fart jokes
Spartacus = good because of sex

That was a summarisation of the show how I met your mother is repetitive, bland, the characters are all pretentious with no development what so ever an I have never once laughed whilst watching it, the fact of the matter it's bad cause fart jokes are more funny not cause they may or may not use them. If you want to watch a funny sitcom try Only Fools and Horses.

Spartacus on the other hand would be good without the sex.
