A 94% is an impressive rating for a comedy on rotten tomatos, but I really don't like Melissa McCarthy at all. She reminds me of the female version of Kevin James in an unfortunate way.

Good comparison, she has a style that I believe is becoming worn out to some people. Can only be the lead in so many movies while acting exactly the same.

Except Jason Statham I guess.. But his movies suck, funny he's in this

RT and other forms of rating give a general consensus through the eyes of critics and the public.

A movie rating website is not much different than reading reviews on amazon for a particular product. Do you buy products that are 1/5 stars? Can you have luck with it where others have failed with them, sure, but generally, you are likely to go with a 4+ star product.

Movie ratings DEFINITELY can sway my desire to see a movie, especially if it's a 90% or above.

Mad Max, for example, is a movie I had no desire seeing. However, after seeing it's very high scoring, and reading positive posts here on JSP, both have swayed me into seeing it when it comes out on Netflix.

Come on, logic.

product reviews on amazon are based on objective value of an item, films are subjective in nature in addition to objective such as proper camerawork/blocking/sound mixing etc.

I don't let ratings influence my decision to watch a film or movie at least once

i never said that reviews mean you CAN'T watch a movie......It simply gives you a general idea of what to expect. use you're brain to determine the rest.

A product on amazon is just as subjective as a movie review.......Honestly, a review is AN OPINION of something, which is the same as a movie review......every review is unique.

you're fucking stupid.
