SYFY's lead head of future programming said about a year ago that he plans to take SYFY back to space, back to science fiction. After watching that great short Ascension in January and looking at Dark Matter coming in the next month it's really starting to look like he's making good on his promises.

It's going to be a great year for science fiction / space odyssey fans. Fuck the standard networks and their safe pick citcom bullshit for the masses. I love this syfy philosophy, throw out 5 all new top notch space shows and keep the great ones. It's a tough genre to get a good viewership so they put them up in a group and make them fight to see who can make the best show, fucking great idea. I know i'm not the only one who has been desperately craving a great new space show since SGU ended. Sure, we've seen Falling Skies and Defiance, and aliens are cool but those are post apocalypse earth shows, I want to go out into the unknown of space you know what i'm sayin?


ANYWAY Dark Matter, From the writers of Stargate, coming JUNE 12, 2015. Little backstory Joseph Mallozzi is credited as Executive Producer on the show. He held the same role for SG-1, Atlantis, and SGU for the stargate project. He came up with the idea for Dark Matter while working on Stargate and got it published as a comic book with the intention of becoming a tv show eventually.

This is a show really worth getting excited about for science fiction fans.
