is it me or do all the Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role just look so bland...not saying the actors are bad but it just isnt exciting.
remember when i was a kid i used to like knowing who won the lead act award but eh

Basically only nominated movies were the oscar season movies.

It's expected.

Cumberbatch played the high IQ guy like a mildly autistic man. Didn't really fit.
Carell's performance was a big "meh" for me. The movie itself really bored the fuck out of me.
Cooper is a good actor, but I've had my fucking fill of american movies about the army and 'murica shit/politics/struggles its just...uggggggggh.
Birdman was AWESOME.

What I make of this thread is pretty much that you're not excited about the picks but you haven't seen a single one of the films the actors are nominated for and you don't have a single suggestion for better candidates yourself, to me that's pretty weak basis for discussion I mean what are we supposed to talk about, hypothetical performances?
I was excited about the anouncement of nominees and a big part of why is because i've actually watched some of the films that are in the running for awards and i'm of course rooting for my favorites to get some recognition.

If you make a thread about something you've actually seen and are knowledgeable enough to have an opinion about i'll be less of an asshole.

youre not being an asshole youre just being ignorant or reading something else
