i saw the second hobbit movie where they went to the treasure room and met the dragon, then the dragon escaped into the city. i just watched the trailer, but the dragon is nowhere to be found. i'm confused. dont they have to fight the dragon?

The final movie was crap, first 2 hyped up the dragon so much, then he is killed off in like 5 minutes, then they proceed to a war that they hardly show.
